Our Vision.
Our Mission.
Our Legacy.
Founded in Sheffield by Dr Tom Payne and operating nationally and internationally, Moot Works is a civic performance and ecological strategy studio. We partner with communities, cultural institutions, and the public sector to design poetic, site-responsive interventions that shift how systems feel and function.
We operate between art, infrastructure, and systems thinking, convening unlikely collaborators and shaping conditions for meaningful change.
We are not a conventional design agency.
We are not a sustainability comms firm.
We are not a theatre company, though we often work performatively. We are not policy-only, nor art-only.
We are a studio for structured debate,
embodied research, and poetic action.
Measured. Elemental. Quietly radical.

Works
Moot Works is a civic performance and ecological strategy studio. We make interventions in public, poetic, and infrastructural systems.
From Sensing to Signalling
How we move from attention to intervention, in three deliberate phases.

Sensing
We begin by listening. We observe environments, gather lived experience, and map cultural, ecological, and institutional conditions through workshops, walks, archives, or digital residencies.

Shaping
We synthesise, prototype, and test. This is where thinking becomes structure, in the form of proposals, performances, speculative tools, or civic interventions.

Signalling
We share and stage change. Outputs include designed experiences, public installations, reports, exhibitions, events, or processes that remain after we step back.
