Moot Works Ltd is committed to environmental responsibility across all areas of our work. As a creative organisation engaged in ecological practice and public engagement, we recognise the urgency of the climate crisis and the need to act with integrity, care, and accountability.

1. Our position

We believe that cultural organisations have a vital role in modelling sustainable practice and fostering ecological awareness. We take responsibility for our environmental impacts and are committed to reducing harm while actively contributing to positive change.

We commit to:

Minimising our carbon footprint across travel, production, and operations
Prioritising ethical, low-impact, and locally sourced materials
Reducing waste and promoting reuse, repair, and circular approaches
Embedding sustainability into our planning, delivery, and evaluation
Supporting climate literacy, environmental justice, and systems change through our work

3. Practice and operations

We will:

Use low-carbon and public transport where feasible, and avoid unnecessary air travel
Limit energy use and engage renewable energy suppliers where possible
Avoid single-use plastics and reduce unnecessary packaging
Choose suppliers and contractors aligned with our environmental values
Incorporate sustainability into project briefs, risk assessments, and budgets
Create work that encourages ecological reflection and responsible resource use

4. Partnerships and accountability

We will:

Collaborate with organisations, artists, and communities who share our environmental commitment
Communicate transparently about our practices, including areas for improvement
Contribute to shared learning about ecological action within the arts sector
Review this policy annually, and adapt our practices in response to evolving knowledge, data, and dialogue
